America, the land of freedom, is best known for its constitution around the globe. Even that inspired many revolutions across Europe. However, it is not an exception for the weird laws and orders. Some formulated decades ago, and others are relatively new but still just as strange.
Weird Law 1 - It is illegal to wash your neighbor’s car without their permission
Usually, we all will be happy if someone is interested in washing our car. But in Los Angeles, things are different. Better to put down the sponge if you did not have permission beforehand. If not, you may be in some trouble with the law.
Weird Law 2 - Sip and Spit only!
In America, it is illegal to drink below 21 years old. But the weird thing is that in Illinois, special permission has been issued to a culinary school in the Prairie State. It was said that knowing the taste of their wine was crucial to culinary students, and this would be an important factor in their education.
There came the Sip and Spit law, allowing the culinary students to taste the wine as long as they keep that in the mouth until spitting out. That makes them understand the important area of their education.
Weird Law 3 - Are you dare to send me a pizza?
Weird Law 4 - You can not honk your horn after 9 p.m.
In Arkansas, it is illegal to honk your horn on a vehicle after 9 p.m. near a place where cold drinks or sandwiches are served. That may seem funny, but stay on the safe side and avoid honking your vehicle horn near any subways after 9 p.m.
Weird Law 5 - Weird bingo rules!
Are you a bingo lover? Then you will hate to live in North Carolina. Yes, in North Carolina, bingo can not be last for more than five hours. Another weird thing is that it is illegal to be intoxicated while playing bingo in this state. It is a nightmare for those who love to have a little glass of wine while playing.
Weird Law 6 - Are you dare to drive blindfolded?
You may think about how someone can drive blindfolded? Interestingly there is a law in Alabama that says it is illegal to drive blindfolded. This law ensures that you won’t be encountering any blindfolded drivers on your journey.
Weird Law 7 - Women and their false teeth
You may think that in this modern world, women have the freedom to decide what they need. However, this is not the case in Vermont. The law has not yet been overturned. The law states that women must get permission from their partners to have false teeth.
Weird Law 8 - You can not eat fried chicken with a knife and fork
The Georgia ordinance, passed in 1961 to get publicity for the town, says it is illegal to eat fried chicken with anything other than your hands. Although the law is rarely enforced, in 2009 one visitor was arrested for using a fork and knife to eat her fried chicken.
Weird Law 9 - You can not get married if you have STD
Laws in Nebraska say that it is illegal to marry if you have any kind of venereal disease. The main aim of this law is to protect people from venereal disease - however, it is difficult to enforce. Interestingly, when obtaining a marriage license in Nebraska, there is no need to submit your medical records or history, Just an ID proof is enough.
It seems that there are different types of laws to study in American law schools. Eventhough these laws seem funny and weird, each law has a meaning behind it.
